TV anchor gives interview after on-air dog bite

A Denver news anchor is speaking out for the first time after being severely injured when a dog bit her on the face during a TV interview.  Earlier this month, Kyle Dyer was interviewing the owner of an 85-pound Argentine Mastiff who was rescued from icy waters. While petting the dog’s face, Dyer leaned in to kiss his nose when the dog lurched forward and bit her face.

Dyer was taken to Denver Health Medical Center where, after four hours of surgery, she received 70 stitches to her lips and nose. She later posted on Facebook that her mouth was stitched shut in order for the skin graft to take.

She is out of the hospital and recently sat down for an interview to discuss the accident and resulting surgery. Dyer is happy that the dog is back with his owners and is pleased to be recovering and moving forward with life. Listen to her describe the bite and the moment she realized she had no upper lip.

HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point police said a woman was bitten and injured after trying to catch a dog that got loose from its owner.

Police said a woman was walking a pit bull over the weekend near Long Street and West Lexington Avenue when it slipped out of its collar and escaped.

A woman in her car saw the dog running off and got out to help catch it, police said.

Police said the woman who was walking the dog told her not to help, saying she did not know how the dog would act around strangers.

The dog attacked the victim, biting her on her right arm and the lower part of both legs, police said.

The dog was caught and has been taken to the Guilford County Animal Shelter, officials said.

High Point Police Capt. Mike Kirk said the victim was taken to the hospital. It remains uncertain if she is still there.

U.S. Airways Flight Grounded After Dog Bites Passenger & Flight Attendant

In spite of all the advanced screening technology and techniques being used at airports these days, terrorists are still able to sneak on board planes and disrupt the flight — in the form of dogs.

Earlier today, a U.S. Airways flight en route from Newark to Phoenix was forced to make a pit stop in Pittsburgh when a canine travel got bite-happy and chowed down on a passenger and a flight attendant.

The pooch, described as a small dog, had been brought onto the plane in a carrier, only to be set free on the unsuspecting passengers by its owner.

A rep for the airline told the media that the severity of the bites was unclear but the pilot decided to land in Pittsburgh to make sure everyone was okay.

“The captain felt in the interest of safety, it was better to land and have them looked at than continue on,” said the rep.

Should passengers be allowed to carry on non-service pets?

Jacksonville Woman Develops RSD after Dog Bite

Jacksonville Woman Develops RSD after Dog Bite

A Jacksonville woman developed reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD) after being attacked by a dog on her own property. The dog bit deeply in her arm, but the wound itself was not severe enough to require stitches. After being initially seen by doctors she was sent home.

Within days she developed a serious infection of the wound site. The infection was followed by the onset of severe burning pain, color changes, a cooler temperature in the arm, and abnormal hair growth on the arm. Unfortunately, all of these are classic symptoms of RSD.

RSD, previously known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, is a serious, usually permanent neurological condition that is usually caused by an injury to an extremity.

This situation highlights the very serious nature of dog attacks. Every year, we hear of people seriously injured or killed by pet dogs in Jacksonville. Children are the most frequent victims of dog attacks, accounting for 70% of dog attack injuries. In the United States, there are almost 600,000 dog bite wounds that require medical care each year.
